floppy to Replace Relyks on Cloud9 Blue

Multiple sources close to the situation have informed Rush B Media that Ricky “floppy” Kemery is set to transition to Cloud9’s male VALORANT team, Cloud9 Blue. The news comes following the departure of Skyler “Relyks” Weaver, who joined Cloud9’s VALORANT division in June of last year.

Ricky has been dawning Cloud9’s jersey since the start of 2020, when he and his ATK teammates were signed by the North American organization following a promising run at ESL Pro League Season 10. While this Cloud9 lineup had mixed results during the online era, the team ultimately saw their contracts terminated in October following violations of their contracts, due to the team inviting unauthorized guests during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the core of the ex-Cloud9 roster went on to sign with Extra Salt, floppy remained with the NA giant, and was later brought into Henry “HenryG” Greer’s Colossus roster, a team composed of big names such as Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and Özgür “woxic” Eker. The story seemed to have repeated itself, however, as this C9 roster too was unable to live up to expectations, and the entire roster was benched by Cloud9, as the organization takes a temporary leave from Counter-Strike.

Thus far, ALEX, head coach Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit, and assistant coach Joshua “m1cks” Micks have all been released from their contracts, with their futures looking uncertain. It’s not quite clear what the future holds for the remaining benched players either, as William “mezii” Merriman, Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, and Erick “Xeppaa” Bach are all currently assessing their options.

Floppy joins the growing list of former North American CS:GO players to transition to Riot Games’ first-person shooter. While the title’s release a little over a year ago presented an amazing new opportunity for the likes of Braxton “brax” Pierce and Joshua “steel” Nissan, who are indefinitely banned from attending Valve-sponsored events due to the iBUYPOWER match-fixing scandal, many others saw a chance to get in early. Cloud9 Blue found decent success early on in the professional VALORANT circuit, but the team has fallen short since the start of 2021, despite numerous roster changes. Perhaps the addition of floppy is exactly what the team needs to get back on track and find success in the VALORANT Champions Tour.

Following floppy’s addition, Cloud9 Blue’s roster should look as follows:

  • Nathan “leaf” Orf
  • Mitch “mitch” Semago
  • Michael “poiz” Possis
  • Son “xeta” Seon-ho
  • Ricky “floppy” Kemery

Yoon “Autumn” Eu-teum (Head Coach)
James “JamezIRL” Macaulay (Assistant Coach)
