FURIA are reportedly targeting Brazilian Rafael “saffee” Costa, the 26-year-old sniper from paiN Gaming, for their new roster with the expected departure of Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo. The reports have also been confirmed by ge’s Roque Marques. Following a report yesterday also by ge that VINI is being targeted by Team Liquid as part of their roster overhaul, Rush B Media can confirm that FURIA is already exploring options for his replacement. Additionally, Rush B Media has been informed that FURIA is looking for a permanent replacement for André “drop” Abreu who is parting away from the starting lineup.
FURIA Esports reportedly has a number of players on their shortlist, one of which is MIBR player Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes. Rush B Media is aware that there has been no official communication between MIBR and FURIA in regards to this player as of this moment, but one source says that he is definitely one of the top targets to replace drop. chelo was moved to the bench in October due to medical issues — being replaced by Jhonatan “JOTA” Willian.
Beating all expectations, FURIA made it to the Champions stage of the PGL Stockholm Major where they ultimately fell in the quarterfinals to Gambit. The team faced prolonged roster trouble in 2021 as Henrique “HEN1” Teles was replaced by Paytyn “junior” Johnson, who eventually went on to be replaced himself by Lucas “honda” Honda, and later drop. FURIA appears to be looking to find a permanent fifth and should make their eventual changes soon.
Rush B Media reached out to both FURIA Esports and paiN Gaming. At the time of publication, FURIA has not responded to our request and paiN Gaming declined to comment.
With the information about saffee and drop’s eventually departure, FURIA’s expected roster for 2022 is:
- Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato
- Yuri “yuurih” Santos
- Andrei “arT” Piozevan
- Rafael “saffee” Costa
