The premier esports event of the year is finally upon us as Mustache Masters Season 2 starts this weekend. Mustache Masters brings together the east coast’s finest esports personalities in an effort to raise money for the Movember foundation, a charity dedicated to helping improve men’s physical and mental health as it takes on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. Last year Mustache Masters was able to raise over $10,000 for the Movember Foundation and they are hoping to double that this year as they set a $20,000 goal for the event. But what can we expect from the event itself?
Mustache Masters boasts a wide variety of teams as amateur, semi-pro, and professional teams will all be competing with one another this weekend. The biggest name at the event is without a doubt the ex-Cloud9 core, Na, competing with Gage “Infinite” Green. Na haven’t played any officials since ESL Pro League Season 12 back in September, but will be looking to take first place regardless. It won’t be easy for Na though as New England Whalers, the #28 team in the world, stand in their way. Whalers have been in good form lately reaching the finals of MDL Season 35 North America and earning a 6th place finish at IEM New York 2020 – North America. Rounding out the professional teams at the event is Yeah, the Brazilian team have stomped through ESEA Advanced Season 35 and have yet to drop a map this season. Yeah recently qualified for DreamHack Masters Winter 2020 North America and will pose a challenge to every team at Mustache Masters.
Looking further through the team list, we come to the Advanced teams that will be looking to cause some upsets and see how they stack up against the aforementioned pros. The final invite went to the team with the best merch in CS:GO, even before 100 Thieves left, Big Chillin. The Boston based team are among the best of the rest alongside other Advanced teams HC Esports and Orion. Rounding out the semi-pro part of the bracket is the Michigan Tech Huskies, featuring Logan “Voltage” Long, who will look to show us just how good some of these collegiate teams are while their faculty wonder why their team is playing against “Peeing in Shower is Multitasking.”
Finally in the amateur part of the bracket, we get the best named teams at the event. Featuring the likes of Hard Karis 2, Club Conflict Ringers, Horny Homies, Handlebar Harries, Darf Horse, and the already mentioned Peeing in Shower is Multitasking. It’s impossible to know what to expect from these teams but we’ll see some fun matches from them for sure. The bracket for the event is set to be revealed at 7:30pm EST during the Pre-Show, so be sure to tune in.
