Sprout are the champions of the ESEA Premier Season 39 Europe after winning 3-0 against Entropiq in the Grand Finals of the playoffs, last week. Following a great regular season, with a 6-2 record, and an unbeatable playoff run, the German organization won this season’s ESEA Premier Europe competition, beating the other 16 concurrent teams to the trophy.

This season’s journey for Sprout started one month prior to Premier’s start, as the German organization went winless in other tournaments for almost a month, resulting in roster changes. Marko ‘kressy’ Đorđević got replaced by Kamil ‘KEi’ Pietkun, and the Polish player propelled the squad to their first win in eight matches, showing glimpses of a bright future for the team. At the same time, Niclas ‘enkay J’ Krumhorn was replaced by Danny ‘BERRY’ Krüger in the coaching position, which also played a huge factor in the betterment of Sprout’s performances. After these changes, the team only lost two games in sixteen matches played, with KEi performances rating only four times under 1.10.

After that streak, which only included one game from the EU Premier competition, against BLINK, the team went back to playing the ESEA’s tournament, but lost two games straight away, which gave them a 1-2 record. Following that slow start to their season, Sprout only dropped one map out of nine played, ending the regular season tied in second place with 1WIN. During playoffs, they achieved the same map record after four games as they did during the regular season and cruised to the win. Winning the ESEA Premier Season 39 Europe came with $20,000 and a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 16 Conference.

That competition will take place during June 2022 and features, for now, Sprout, Extra Salt and LookingForOrg, all teams that won their region’s Season 39 ESEA Premier competition. There are two open spots, one reserved for the winning teams of the next ESL Challenger League from Europe and North America. ESL Challenger League is the new name of the ESEA Premier competition, ending the Premier title tenure.
